A New Chapter

On May 30, 1970, André welcomed Angel at Montreal International Airport, signalling the beginning of a new chapter in their lives together.

Upon her arrival, Angel stayed with Monique, André’s youngest sister, and her husband Jacques, in Repentigny, Québec. This arrangement was necessary while Angel awaited the civil wedding, which had to take place within 30 days to comply with the conditions of her Canadian visa.

During this transitional period, André continued his work at the Canadian Council for International Cooperation (CCIC) in Ottawa, and later, with the Canadian International Development Agency balancing professional responsibilities for the next 25 years.

The following correspondence from André to Angel documents this significant period, in the seventies and the unfolding of their shared life through to 2025.

In 1975, back to Canada, the family bought a house in Gatineau, 20 Chemin des Érables.

The family lived there till 2000. After their grown up children moved out, André and Angel built a new home at 15 Ragueneau, Gatineau, where they continue to live.
