August 1970 to August 1972
On
August 1, 1970, André and Angel relocated to an apartment at 215 Muchmore
Street, Hull.
On
December 16, 1970, André received laicization papers from the Congregation for
the Doctrine of the Faith in Rome.
In
March 1971, André began a new role as Assistant and ghost-writer for Paul
Gérin-Lajoie, President of the Canadian International Development Agency
(CIDA).
Angel
and André welcomed their first child, Eric Ratna, on April 17, 1971.

In August 1972, for CIDA, André
accepted a post in Vietnam. He travelled there with Angel and Eric, stopping
first in India. André stayed a few days with the Indian family before departing
for Vietnam.
Angel (Bala) and Eric remained in
India with the parents for about a month.
